It’s the Postseason!

October 7th, 2009

Who doesn’t love post season baseball?  Well, lucky for all of us, it’s October!  Playoff baseball starts today - with the Phillies vs. Rockies and then tonight with the Yankees vs. Twins.  The Phillies are the reigning World Series champs, but the Rockies have had a great 2nd half of the season.  The Yankees have home field advantage and a line up full of stars, but the Twins are the hottest team in baseball right now - so who will pull it off tonight?  And that’s just today’s match ups!  Tomorrow there’s LA Dodgers vs. St. Louis and Boston vs. LA Angels - will Manny or Puljos come out on top?  The Sox or the Angels?  It’s all up in the air - because it’s October, and that means it’s anybody’s game.  Check back for more updates later this week!

Who Will Host the 2016 Olympics?

October 2nd, 2009

The 2016 Olympics are up for grabs - and it’s a toss up for the IOC between Chicago, Madrid, Rio de Janeiro & Tokyo. The news comes out today - so one city is about to change forever. Sporting News Today breaks down 3 reasons each city could win and 3 reasons each could lose - and it looks like it’s anybody’s game. Chicago’s a good pick - President Obama and Oprah think so - because of it’s picturesque scene on Lake Michigan. Madrid? They have more than 3/4 of the facilities completed, so it’s a city that’s ready to go. The Olympics have never been to South America, making Rio a great choice as well. And Tokyo? They’ve got a big focus on environmental sustainability, which is a hot topic of late. So really, 2016 could have the Olympics anywhere, but where will the IOC pick?
