NASA Astronaut Nicole Stott is reading More Magazine, from space!

Digital publishing providers have been boasting that sky’s the limit in terms of technical innovation. But apparently sky is no longer the limit as Astronaut Nicole Stott is reading a Texterity magazine in space.

Meredith Corporation in cooperation with its digital provider Texterity (www.texterity.com) has worked with NASA to deliver Stott’s More Magazine subscription to her electronically during her long duration stay aboard the International Space Station.

More, the only lifestyle magazine celebrating confident and successful women over 40, is one of 50 digital publications on Texterity’s consumer magazine portal at www.coverleaf.com where print subscribers receive free digital companions, and where anyone can browse, search, and buy magazines.

Stott was selected as a NASA astronaut in 2000 and has worked technical aspects of station payloads, supported Expedition 10, and has been a station CAPCOM. Aside from serving as a long-duration crew member, she joined astronaut Danny Olivas in the first spacewalk of space shuttle Discovery’s mission. She and Olivas removed two experiments from the hull of the European Columbus module.

Says Patrick Taylor, VP of Publishing Group Communications at Meredith: “We jumped at the chance to help get Nicole her digital copy of More and loved that she has been able to share her journey in space on <a href=”http://www.More.com”More.com. I agree with what our readers have been saying: Stott is an inspiration to all women that big dreams can be achieved.”

Wendy Zingher, Texterity VP of Sales & Marketing agrees. “You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to enjoy digital editions, but we are thrilled that one is! It is very gratifying to all of us at Texterity to be able to provide Nicole with the pleasure of enjoying one of her favorite magazines while in the most exotic of locales.”

Astronaut Stott is blogging from space and her journals are available through www.nasa.gov/station, www.more.com, and at www.texterity.com.

Texterity (www.texterity.com/info-request/) is a privately held company located in Southborough, MA. Texterity converts, maintains, and tracks more than 1,000 digital editions for consumer, trade, and association publishers. Their browser-based Published Web Format can be enjoyed on any computer, iPhone, or iPod touch. Texterity was named a “Top 100” company to watch by E-Content magazine.

3. FamilyFun: Have some fun indoors this winter with a new game from Family Fun – called Shrinking Islands.
6. Wood: Wood Magazine experts check out the 25 greatest tool innovations in the last 25 years, with products that broke new ground, products that evolved and changed woodworking and products that were made affordable for the home shop. If you’re a serious woodworker, you won’t want to miss out on this list! http://woodmagazine.coverleaf.com/woodmagazine/200910?folio=60

7. Family Circle: Can the internet really help your kids in school? Of course – there’s a lot to offer out there, you just have to know where to look. Check out these 14 educational sites from Family Circle – there’s everything from dictionaries to college calendars, search engines to social network sites that encourage your kids to study with others online. http://www.familycircle-digital.com/familycircle/20091017?folio=83#pg83

8. More: Marcia Menter, for More Magazine, recounts her mother’s life, learning a lot about it in the process. It’s a memoir about love, happiness and family that you won’t want to miss. http://www.moremagazine-digital.com/more/200911?folio=63#pg65

9. Runner’s World: What should you be eating as a runner this winter season? Try pumpkin seeds (roasted in the oven with a little bit of salt and Japanese seasoning) – they are a low fat snack that is packed with proteins and minerals to keep you going on those cold mornings. What about the rest of the pumpkin? Try this recipe for Chicken and Pumpkin Curry! http://runnersworld.coverleaf.com/runnersworld/200911?folio=40#pg42

Having an egg for breakfast to get your metabolism going, avoiding the carbs at lunch, and remembering to add healthy fats are just a few things you can do to quell your cravings. http://prevention.coverleaf.com/prevention/200911?folio=68#pg70

Who doesn’t love post season baseball? Well, lucky for all of us, it’s October! Playoff baseball starts today - with the Phillies vs. Rockies and then tonight with the Yankees vs. Twins. The Phillies are the reigning World Series champs, but the Rockies have had a great 2nd half of the season. The Yankees have home field advantage and a line up full of stars, but the Twins are the hottest team in baseball right now - so who will pull it off tonight? And that’s just today’s match ups! Tomorrow there’s LA Dodgers vs. St. Louis and Boston vs. LA Angels - will Manny or Puljos come out on top? The Sox or the Angels? It’s all up in the air - because it’s October, and that means it’s anybody’s game. Check back for more updates later this week!

The news comes out today - so one city is about to change forever. Sporting News Today breaks down 3 reasons each city could win and 3 reasons each could lose - and it looks like it’s anybody’s game. Chicago’s a good pick - President Obama and Oprah think so - because of it’s picturesque scene on Lake Michigan. Madrid? They have more than 3/4 of the facilities completed, so it’s a city that’s ready to go. The Olympics have never been to South America, making Rio a great choice as well. And Tokyo? They’ve got a big focus on environmental sustainability, which is a hot topic of late. So really, 2016 could have the Olympics anywhere, but where will the IOC pick?

Read these tips from More Magazine on how to get whiter teeth, fast!

Want whiter teeth? Check out Ch-Ch-Changes, from More Magazine for tips on how to get the sparkle back. What do dentists say works best - don’t use a brush with medium or hard bristles - it wears down the enamel on your teeth faster. Use a brush with soft bristles or an electric toothbrush instead. Avoid the store bought whiteners, and instead whiten your teeth at the dentist. It can be expensive, but the treatments that dentists use can speed up the whitening to take only about an hour. Also check out More’s shopping list for things to buy to easily improve your smile in no time.
